Introduction to the topic
It’s safe to say that eyelash extensions are the finest thing to happen to beauty since mascara for those of us who have naturally short, curly, or extremely thin lashes. In the case of people who are too busy to apply three coats of mascara every morning or who are too anxious to wait for Latisse to take action, lash extensions are an excellent alternative (or a more natural-looking effect, depending on what you prefer). As with any wonderful thing, your (fake) fringe will eventually expire.
Eyelash extension upkeep may seem difficult at first, but it’s actually rather simple if you follow these expert-approved pointers. As a result of our curiosity, we sought advice from lash extension experts Gina Bisignano and RamyGafni on how to extend the time between touch-ups for our extensions. That’s exactly what it turns out to be, too.
How to extend life of eyelash extensions?
Extensions for eyelashes are a godsend. As an alternative to curling and adding mascara to our eyelashes in the morning, we may just spend time at the salon allowing lash technicians do their thing. There is nothing further to do after that.
Eyelash extensions are a lifesaver for those who want longer, thicker eyelashes but don’t want to spend the time or effort curling their own lashes or applying multiple coats of mascara. Synthetic, silk, and mink eyelash extensions range in length from 6mm to 17mm. Using a specially formulated glue, these extensions are attached one by one.
For the first 24 hours after your extensions have been applied, avoid water and steam. During this time, the adhesive is still forming, and your lashes could fall out early if they are moved or exposed to water. You can still take a shower, but avoid putting your head under the water and avoid rubbing your eyes at all costs. This is the most critical piece of advice for extending the life of hair extensions.
Eyelash extensions should be applied with oil-free solutions to avoid damaging the adhesive bonds. Our oil-free Prebiotic Eye Make-Up Remover Gel is designed to be used with eyelash extensions. Apply on damp cotton wool and gently smooth around the closed eye area until all make-up has been removed, then rinse well with water. It’s essential to keep your lash extensions looking their best by using our Lash & Lid Foaming Cleanser and Cleansing Brush. In order to avoid the build-up of dirt and bacteria on the eyelid, our Lash & Lid Cleansing Brush has multi-length bristles, while our Lash and Lid Foaming Cleanser supports ideal lash and eyelid cleanliness. Remember to take care of those lashes! Using Replenishing Lash & Eye Mist’s ultra-lightweight composition provides long-lasting, immediate hydration without affecting lash extensions.
Few tips to follow for making your lash extensions last longer
Following your lash extension appointment, you’re probably thinking, “How can I extend the life of my extensions?” if you’re like us. Because of this, we’d like to share with you some of our tried and true ways for ensuring that your lashes go the distance. The following are ten suggestions from eyelash extension experts for extending the life of your extensions:
1. Keeping them clean and dry is the first step.
For the first 12 to 24 hours, avoid getting your lashes moist to provide the strongest possible connection. Adhesive will have more time to properly cure and cling to the lash line with this method Our recommendation is to avoid hot environments during the first 48 hours. Saunas, heated yoga classes, and tanning beds would all fall under this category.
2. Sleep on your back.
In addition to reducing pressure on your shoulders and spine by resting on your back, lying on your back is excellent for your eyelashes as well! (Highly recommended! If you prefer to sleep on your side, by all means do so. Avoid snoozing on your face and lashes, the most important thing. Because of the risk of dislodging or kinking extensions, you should avoid slamming your eyelashes against your pillow as you sleep on your side.
3. Seal your eyelashes with an eyelash sealant.
Every morning, apply an eyelash sealer to keep your lashes in place. To ensure that your extensions don’t fall out, Gafni recommends using a product like this one.
It contains both an acrylic and hyaluronic serum, according to Bisignano, which helps the extensions adhere and remain healthy.
4. Mascara that is waterproof should be avoided.
If you must use mascara, steer clear of waterproof mascara; however, if you must use it, avoid it. It’s more difficult to remove since they clump together, and the constant yanking and straining can wear down your lashes and limit their lifespan.
5. Be careful not to interact with them.
Keeping your hands away from those gorgeous lashes is more difficult than it appears. Playing with false lashes can hasten the loss of your natural ones.
You can always come back to our salon for a lash top-up if these guidelines are a little too difficult to follow. And it’s actually a lot easier than you think! As an added bonus, having long-lasting, thick lashes is well worth the effort!
6. Cleanse your lashes on a regular basis after the first few days.
My hairstylist advised me to use a mild foam cleanser on my extensions a few months ago. I was apprehensive because I’ve been urged to keep them dry and not touch them up until this point. However, I’ve noticed improved retention since implementing this strategy (and no more lash-dulling dust or eye-shadow residue).
Use a small, fluffy brush to apply the cleanser to your eyelids and gently massage in until it is completely absorbed. Then comb them out to make sure they’re all facing the same way.
7. Consider using a lighter lash.
The thicker your lashes are, the more noticeable they will be against your eyes. That’s the only drawback. As a result of their greater weight, they are more prone to peeling or falling off. Ask your technician about lighter solutions if durability is a concern for you. ) (As a point of comparison, I rarely go above 15mm is no longer an option.)
8. Lubricate them.
You may assume that keeping your lash extensions dry is a good idea, but they really last longer and look better if they’re oiled up (this helps keep them flexible). As Courtney Akai of New York City’s Courtney Akai Lash Boutique advised, all you need to do is dab a drop of baby oil on them with your fingers.
9. Avoid using eyeliner unless absolutely necessary.
If you’re a fan of eyeliner as much as we are, you may have a hard time with this one. However, avoid using eyeliner as much as possible because it’s difficult to get rid of without scratching the lashes, which will lead to shedding. As a result, if you’re a liner person, use micellar water and a queue tip to gently remove it. Apply the liner a millimetre above the lash line instead of directly on the lash. Don’t worry about seeing the empty space because your lashes will cover it up.
10. Set a Recurring Filling Plan
Every day, your natural lashes shed, and so do the extensions that you wear. Every two weeks, you’ll need a fill to keep your lashes looking their best.

You’ve had eyelash extensions installed, but how do you maintain them?
Today, we’re going to show you five foolproof strategies to extend the life of your eyelash extensions!
1. Clean and brush up on your brushing skills
Good news: There isn’t any additional work for you if you already have the suds and scrubs installed. It’s recommended to use one of our oil-free lash foaming cleansers and makeup removers, which are ideal for keeping your lashes clean and secure. Choose between our Special Makeup Remover and our Eye Makeup Remover Gel when you purchase a cleanser at one of our salons.
Make sure you clean your lashes every day and use a clean mascara wand to brush your lashes in the morning as well. What’s the point of waking up early? Brushing and fluffing your lashes softly as you sleep is the best way to maintain them in place and avoid tangles.
2. Don’t face pillow while sleeping
Sleeping on your back can be beneficial. Even if you’re accustomed to sleeping on your back, it’s a bad idea to sleep with your face forced against a pillow. Make an effort to sleep on your back to avoid putting too much strain on your extensions.
3. Don’t touch them
The longer your eyelash extensions stay, the less you need to fuss with them as a general rule of thumb for eyelash extension maintenance. The use of eyelash extensions eliminates the need for any of these irritating behaviours.
This could cause your extensions to fall off prematurely if you frequently rub and tamper with your lash line… Who wants that?
4. Only use products that work well with lash extensions
Some cosmetics, such as mascara, should not be used with eyelash extensions. Waterproof mascara and other cosmetics containing oil or alcohol should be avoided. And oil-based moisturisers around the eyes are included in this.
5. Mascara wand
If you take care of your lash extensions, you may expect them to last a long time. Brushing your eyelashes with a mascara wand is the best way to keep them in shape. Lash and Brow Tools, as well as a variety of accessories, are available at our store.
